About Isabelle
I have explored and cherished the Cape Cod coastline all my life. Growing up, I took art classes and learned to maneuver color and shape. Painting became a joyful meditation on what I found beautiful and meaningful. Naturally, my love for the Cape and for painting eventually collided.
On one visit home from college, I found a uniquely beautiful piece of driftwood while walking the Brewster Flats and decided to take it with me, imagining how to liven it with paint as I walked home. Then, drawn back to Cape Cod after graduating for an opportunity at a newly opening gallery, my involvement in the local arts community grew and this art practice developed organically into driftshop. I comb the Cape’s beaches and woods for canvases and re-articulate the beauty of where they came from with paint and brush. Every piece has a story and reflects nature’s intertwining journeys. I now showcase my work at a handful of local art spaces, create commission pieces for clients, and offer live paintings at events.
After three years on Cape full time, I moved to Brooklyn, NY where I’m exploring interior design, event production, and developing a new art practice. I’m excited to let new inspiration in and to weave a wildly different environment into what I’ve fostered as an artist so far. I still happily accept Cape based commissions and live painting bookings.
I value immersion and respect in nature, a pour over coffee, a cold plunge, my grandmother’s knitting, new friends, old friends, local business, and when the moon shines in daylight.
It seems creativity rises with the tides, and I continue to be moved by what washes ashore.
